Flora and Octavia are 100% merino grown on farms in the South Island of New Zealand, then super wash treated, and finally worsted spun at Wild Earth Yarns in Christchurch (NZ). Flora is a fingering weight (4-ply) yarn, while Octavia is a DK (double knit) weight 8-ply yarn.
At 21-micron both yarns are wonderfully smooth and soft. These yarns are ideal for garments, especially babies and children, and for beautiful accessories like shawls and wraps.
Flora is named for the natural source of the colours, and Octavia for its 8-ply construction. Because both Flora and Octavia are super wash treated they take up the natural dyes more intensely than the untreated yarns so the colours are just the best that nature can deliver.
Both yarns are machine washable – gentle wool cycle. Even so, I still hand wash my hand knits and dry flat out of direct sunlight for best longevity.
