Flora is 100% merino grown on farms in the South Island of New Zealand, then super wash treated, and finally worsted spun at Wild Earth Yarns in Christchurch (NZ). Flora is a fingering weight (4-ply) yarn.
At 21 micron this yarn is wonderfully smooth and soft. It is ideal for garments for babies and children, and for beautiful accessories like shawls and wraps.
Flora is named for the natural source of the dye colours. Because Flora is superwash treated the fibre takes up the dye more intensely than untreated yarn so the colours are just the best that nature can deliver.
Flora is machine washable using a gentle wool cycle. Even so, I prefer to handwash my handknits and dry flat out of direct sunlight for best longevity.
