Natural dye workshops are held at the Palliser Ridge Farm woolshed, 226 Te Rata Road, Pirinoa, South Wairarapa. Enjoy a fun and inspiring afternoon, home made afternoon tea and the good company of a group of keen dyers.
We will provide you with 3 x 50g skeins of Palliser Ridge wool ready to dye, and up to 2 more skeins will be available if you want more. The equipment and utensils needed are supplied and we offer several natural dye colours to work your magic with the skeins.
The workshops are designed to let you try different natural dyes, from both locally sourced plant materials and “exotic” natural dye materials. You’ll be able to experiment with combinations of dyes and techniques to create a range of colours.
While the class environment is not set up for dyeing a quantity of a single colour, you will learn how to do natural dyeing at home if you want to dye enough of one colour for a garment.
You should bring an apron, wear closed-toe shoes (for safety) and wear clothes that you won’t be worried if they get a splash or two on.
All workshops for the remainder of 2020 and early 2021 are now all fully booked.
Sunday 13 December, 1pm to 4pm
